Every time I think I have time to work on these pages, something else comes up. I will have time over the next few days, however, so I anticipate getting them up by next week. See you then.

It’s true. I gotta get a regular working, paying gig. For a few years now I have been an on-call librarian and freelance cartoonist with modest success. But times are tough (all over, I know), so I have been pounding the payment. Also my son has been home sick all week, making things more complicated.

There are still two pages to go in this story line. Hold tight.

This took a few weeks longer than I anticipated. I won’t go into all the reasons – holidays, kids, applying for jobs, interviewing, going a little stir crazy – that I consider obstacles to putting this thing out. But they all play into why I am wrapping Wanderlost up in only two more pages after this. If you have been patiently waiting for an update, I apologize for the tardiness. Enjoy it while it’s here.

My future plans for Wanderlost include a Kickstarter campaign for a complete collection of all the stories into one volume. I will let you know, for sure, when I get that kicked off. I won’t do so until I have all of the files ready for the printer and have various incentives worked out, as well as a business plan. One thing at a time, eh?

A vault, a vault, a vault! This basement is amazing. My own house has just a crawlspace full of mouse skeletons. Which sounds pretty serial killer-like, now that I think of it. I swear, the mice decomposed long before my time.

If you are thinking, geez, Chloe is pretty callous about her mom’s death, fear not, she’s not. Kids are just really matter-of-fact about stuff adults find traumatic or terrifying or emotionally complicated. I admire them for that.

There is probably some online quiz called “Which Beatle Are You?” Growing up, I had a huge Lennon fandom, partly owing to his murder when I had just turned 11. But later on I developed a real liking of George’s stuff, all dark and spiritual, even if I didn’t ascribe to his particular leanings. I appreciated that he was thoughtful and ironic, much like Lennon, but without all the bitterness and resentment and ego (though George had some of that, owing to his difficulties with the most successful songwriting duo in pop music history.) Paul was always harder for me to relate to; his musical genius was evident, but then he went through a very long, long period of creative mediocrity. Nowadays, I’d just have a beer with Ringo. He probably has some good stories.

For those celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, enjoy yourselves.

Loose Ends Page 9

Man, can a four-day weekend throw you off your game. Well, okay, there were freelance work distractions, too. But here it is, page 9, on a Friday evening. Cold one, too, so I took my son to get some hot chocolate and a pumpkin scone from a drive-through coffee place. Cozy, warm and full of sugar. That’s the way to be.

This week we plow further into the depths of Mr. Guzek’s laboratory. I don’t know what those clone things are, either. Chloe has taken a there-but-for-the-madness-of-an-amateur-scientist-go-I approach, or better them than me. One of those.

And, alas, the time machine is a total bust. It worked at least once, though, right?

Next week is Thanksgiving week here in the USofA, so there will probably be another delay. If you are celebrating with family and friends for Thanksgiving –or for whatever reason you deem appropriate (“Yay, it’s a day ending in ‘y’!”)– have fun ’til then.
