About

Wanderlost is the story of Sheldon, Chloe and other animals on a little farm near the odd little town of Swellington.

Sheldon is a little pig who gets bored easily of life on the farm. His parents argue all the time. Some of his playmates are crazy. Others are not so playful — in fact, they can be downright hostile. It’s hard for Sheldon to relate to anyone, really, especially when he tends to speak in abstract symbols only Chloe and a few others understand. His parents sure don’t. The best thing to do, in Sheldon’s point of view, is to wander off and seek adventure elsewhere. He’s not trying to run away, but he wind up a long ways away from where he started. And to be perfectly honest, he probably doesn’t want to come back.

Chloe is a duck who suspects that she is part goose. She lives with her father, Dr. Guzek (don’t call him Mister!) and tolerates his many futile experiments, inventions and crackpot theories. She is tired of homeschooling and wants to play with other kids. And she has a lot of energy! A couple years older than Sheldon, Chloe is worried about growing up, making friends and remaining true to herself. And like her little pig friend, she wouldn’t mind getting off the farm, too!

Ma Pig has had it. She cooks, she cleans, she cares for everyone in the house, but no one seems to care for her.

Pa Pig could care less. He may come to regret that.

Mr. Guzek really wants you to call him “Dr.” But, alas, he has not finished his dissertation — so sorry, bub, no honorific for you! To be fair, he has little time to finish his paper, what with so many interesting experiments with space, time and elementary matter to conduct. He has devised a very clever innovation on “string theory” that he calls “yarn theory” — it knits all the strings together, he says — but no one has the patience to listen to it.

Warren Peace is a colony of rabbits who love to dance, play music, and eat milk and cookies. At least, that’s what Sheldon thinks he remembers from his first (and so far only) visit to the secret place that no one, except Sheldon’s psychiatrist, has ever heard of.

Dr. Gordon Knott is Sheldon’s psychiatrist. He is very concerned about Sheldon’s exposure to Warren Peace. He is certain that the rabbits will have a bad influence on him, and may be the reason Sheldon runs away so much.
